Floyd “Shipyard Smitty” Smith

Floyd “Shipyard Smitty” Smith age 79 of Swanton formerly of Toledo passed away January 28, 2020 in Swanton. Floyd was born September 20, 1940 Colerain Twp, PA to Condy and Zena (Miller) Smith. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Navy serving on the Destroyer USS Yellowstone. He married Marguerite Ann Staup April 28, 1962 in Emanuel Methodist Church in Toledo. Floyd worked for over 35 years as a boilermaker for Local 85 until retiring in 2005.
Surviving are his loving children Connie (John) Hasapes and Vern (Melinda Dager) Smith; grandsons, Aaron (Carrie) Smith, Cory Smith, Dominic Smith and Samuel Hasapes; granddaughters, Tabitha (Mark) Sintobin, Brandy (Mike) Cole and Madelyn Hasapes. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren and brother Donald (Mary) Smith. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife Marguerite.
Visitation will begin Saturday February 1, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until Funeral services begin at 7:00 p.m. in Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo. Interment will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian, MI.
