Julie Wisniewski Scherer, age 68 of Monroe and Formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday September 2, 2026. She was born on March 28, 1958, in Toledo to Ralph and Christina (Skowronek) Wisniewski.
Julie passed away on the day after her 48th wedding anniversary she shared with her surviving husband, Chris Scherer. Chris and Julie were high school sweethearts and in love for over 50 years.
Julie was the loving wife of Chris Scherer; devoted mother of Mary Beth Scherer (Michael Schweier) and Laura Scherer Smolinski (Ryan Smolinski); and proud grandmother, known as "Busie," to Ava Nicole Smolinski, Sadie Claire Smolinski, and Chloe Ryan Smolinski.
She is survived by her sisters, Anne Marie Swiergosz (Mark) and Connie Gleave; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Wisniewski; her parents, Ralph and Christina Wisniewski; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oray and Sally Scherer; and her brother-in-law, Peter Gleave.
Julie found her greatest happiness in time spent with family. She especially loved Christmas and creating traditions that will be honored and passed down for generations. She treasured time at the family's lake house, affectionately known as "our happy place," and looked forward each year to spring break vacations in Miramar Beach, Florida.
Among her favorite songs were As by Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Her family and friends will remember Julie for her warmth and kindness. We’ll be loving her always.
Respecting her wishes, services will be private.
Arrangements were entrusted with the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd Toledo, Ohio.
