With deep sadness and love, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and DeeDah, Kathy Mae (Keivens) Holder, on 6/27/2026. Kathy lived a life of fierce dedication, laughter, energy, service, and unconditional love for her family and community. She provided a fun loving home for her four children while also modeling a work, love, laugh, serve and play lifestyle. She taught us that there was always enough to feed others and was lovingly referred to as “mama” by many of our friends growing up. Kathy stayed active and enjoyed competition and camaraderie. For many years, she played softball, (Players Club/Yours and Ours) power volleyball, racquetball, dart ball, euchre and pinochle, and brought her lively spirit, and enthusiasm to each game. She loved music, dancing, reading, playing board games and made it a point to call and sing Happy Birthday to her children, grandchildren, siblings, other family members and friends every year. Weekdays from 7-8pm you would find her watching/playing Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Kathy’s early career included work tending bar and in hair salons while earning her cosmetology license. She also worked for the City of Toledo Natural Resources Department. She was a very proud Toledo business owner. Owning and operating Kathy Holder’s Hair Connection in the Polish Village for over 40 years. Her love for community was evident through service and active involvement including introducing her children to volunteer work at T.O.R.C.H., leading beautification efforts at Lagrange Development Corporation and helping with the annual Polish Festival. Always working to make her community a more welcoming and vibrant place for others.
More than anything, Kathy will be remembered for the unconditional love she shared with her children, grandchildren, siblings and other family members and the way she cared for others. Lovingly known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as DeeDah, she shared her love of classic movies and music with her “Darlings” who will carry those cherished memories throughout their lives. Her presence, kindness, strength, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. And she believed God would reunite her with the loved ones she truly missed.
She was preceeded in death by her Mother, Grace Keivens, Father, Wade Keivens, her Son, Charles (Chuckie) Holder and nephew Keith Keivens Jr. She is survived by her children, Robert (Robbie) Holder, Tammy Holder, and Scott (Scotty) Holder, her grandsons Gary (Kelly) Loach, Derek Roe, Scott Holder Jr., great grandchildren, Grayson and Keyton Loach, and Gracie May Blanton, siblings, Keith(Sandy) Keivens, Karen Gill-Keivens, Danny(Becky) Keivens, Sherry Keivens, Delbert(Mary) Keivens, Linda (Daryl) Henzler, multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we have great pride and take so much comfort in the life she lived and the love and laughter she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered. She promised she would always be there for us somewhere over the rainbow! In her honor, the family asks you to please consider a donation to connectingkidstomeals.org.
