Mitchell Bradley Prater age 24, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020 after 9 months of courageously battling brain cancer. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 6th 1996 to Brad and Kathy (Gill) Prater. Mitchell attended Christ the King Grade School and was a 2014 St. Francis de Sales High School graduate where he played both football and lacrosse. He also was involved in Campus ministry and many other activities. He graduated from Siena Heights University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. While at Siena he was very involved in Campus life. Mitchell was an incredible servant leader who had a fiery passion for uplifting those around him. This is evident by his leadership as an early Campus Ministry Scholar, our Mr. Huskey, O-Team Leader, being president of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity and becoming Siena’s first homecoming King. He then graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2020 with a Masters in Social Work. You could always find Mitchell listening to and singing along to music and having a double-well rum and coke. He knew every lyric of every song. Mitchell’s passion was to help others, especially those with disabilities. He was able to realize that passion working as the Director of Programs at camp Fish tails, a camp counselor at Indian Trails Camp and Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Mitchell was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was able to attend a game recently where his Browns defeated the Texans. Mitchell’s love for life and infectious smile brought happiness to all around him. Mitchell made an impact on everyone he came in contact with and was always the life of the party.
Mitchell is survived by his loving parents Brad & Kathy (Gill) Prater; his best friend and brother Matthew; grandparents Tom and Joan Prater; aunts and uncles, Craig (Cheryl) Prater; Missy (Craig) Wagner, Michael Gill; Jeff (Barb) Gill; Jim (Leslie) Gill; cousins, Grant and Drew Prater; Sydney and Shelby Wagner; Drew and Beau Gill; Melinda (Stephen) and Nicholas Wolf; Chris Gill; Jake, Ryan and Megan Gill.
