Scott A. Senci

February 13, 1958 — June 22, 2021

Scott A. Senci, age 63, passed away suddenly on June 22nd, 2021. He was born in Toledo on February 13th, 1958 to Charles “Chuck” and Janet (Mierzejewski) Senci. He was the only child and the light of his parents’ lives. He grew up in South Toledo, attending OLPH through grade school. Scott graduated from St. John’s Jesuit High School in 1976 and was a very proud alumnus, still supporting many SJJ sports and activities up until his passing. After high school, he attended University of Toledo, or as he still referred to it, “TU.” While attending “TU”, he was a brother of SAE fraternity. Scott developed friendships from both St. Johns and SAE that he truly valued until the end of his life.

After attending University of Toledo, he began a lifelong career in insurance, specifically working within union and labor sectors. He loved his work and contributed his interest in the union sector to his late father. He started his career at American Income Life Insurance Company. He then worked for the McLaughlin Company from 1986 to 1991 in Sales. During this time, he married Susan Sanderson and they moved to Cincinnati, OH where they resided until 1993. After accepting a new role with Union Labor Life Insurance Company, they relocated to Canton, Michigan. Scott spent 14 years with Union Labor Life, working his way to Vice President of Sales of the Midwest and West regions. He later had an opportunity to move back home to Toledo, OH, and was able to return home with his family in 2002. In 2005, he transitioned to Cigna Healthcare as the Vice President of Sales in the Taft Hartley division, and later Dental Sales Manager in the Taft Hartley division, where he ended his career earlier this year.

Scott always had a smile on his face that would light up a room and he had never met a stranger. He had charisma and a welcoming character and could always “work the room.” His kids still joke that they could never go anywhere in Toledo without Dad either knowing someone there or making new friends. He truly treasured his family and friendships and was always checking in, making sure everyone was happy and taken care of. He recently had purchased his childhood home, where he was looking forward to many “chutneys” and sharing new memories with family and friends. In his down time, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching sports, attending local live music and golfing. He spent many days on the golf course or enjoying a game of gin at Highland Meadows, where he had been a member for 18 years. He truly lived life to the fullest and made sure to enjoy and share experiences with those around him.

Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth Ashley; son and daughter in law, Scott Charles and Ashley (Lock) Senci, and 2 wonderful grandchildren, Oakley and Ryden Senci. Also surviving is loving mother to his children and forever friend, Susan Sanderson; many cousins that were like his siblings, and their children who were like his “nieces and nephews.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Janet Senci, whom he missed dearly, and we have comfort that they are reunited again.

Scott’s Life Celebration will be Monday June 28, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio 43623. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Deacon Thomas Sheehan officiating.
