Ruth Marie (Kiss) Euton
Ruth M. Euton, 72, of Perrysburg Township passed away peacefully under hospice care on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Born May 1, 1953, Ruth was one of three children of Steve and Margaret Kiss and
was raised in the Birmingham neighborhood of East Toledo. She was a loving and supportive daughter, wife, sister, and aunt. Ruth attended St. Stephens and was a member of the Cardinal Stitch Class of 1971. She then went on to study at The University of Toledo and received her masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Eastern Michigan University. She spent most of her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist with Toledo Public Schools, from which she happily retired after 35 years.
On January 9, 1982, Ruth married Ronald L. Euton. Ron surprised Ruth with yellow roses on their first date. She told friends that she knew she was smitten then. Ron and Ruth created many loving memories traveling around the globe together. Some of their favorite destinations were Key West and Australia. Together, they enjoyed being outside and taking care of the critters on their property. In addition to her immediate family, she held a caring place in the lives of her husband’s daughters, Penny Euton-Cheadle and Kelly Euton-Herbert, as well as their children.
Ruth loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending sporting events with her brothers, concerts, movies at the Maumee Indoor, and cook-outs, especially traditional Hungarian turkey. She was proud of everything her niece and nephew did and did not miss a single event, whether it be a soccer game, watching the marching band in a parade or at halftime, countless band and choir concerts, and endless musical performances. Along with this, she loved decorating her house for every holiday, especially Christmas. Each room had a different theme, and she loved giving tours and pointing out every detail. It truly was impeccable.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband; brothers, Gary (Kris Koveney) Kiss and Jim (Sherrie) Kiss; niece, Mandy Kiss and nephew, Steven (Ben Balazs) Kiss; and special cousin, Diane Goetz.
A celebration of life will be held in Ruth’s honor on Sunday, September 7, 2025,
at the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve: Hankison Great Room from 1:00-4:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Ruth’s memory be made to the Toledo Zoo or Nature’s Nursery in Waterville.
Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff at both St. Vincent ICU and the Edward and Marion Knight Hospice Center for the exceptional care and compassion they showed not only Ruth, but her entire visiting family.
