Patricia Ann "Pat" Schnipke, 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Pat was born on July 14, 1942, in Columbus Grove, Ohio, to Norbert and Lorene Fuerst. She was one of five children in a strong farming family, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family that guided her all her life.
On November 18, 1967, she married Karl Schnipke, and the couple made their home in Toledo. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Parish for more than 50 years. For 20 years, Pat worked in the jewelry department at Macy's, where she brought her warmth and kindness to every customer and coworker. She retired in 2024.
Pat was a talented artist and musician. Her paintings and Christmas ornaments can be found in the homes of her family and friends. She played several musical instruments including the piano, organ, accordion, guitar, and drums
Pat had a gift for making people feel at home. She was a second mom to her nieces and nephews who lived or attended school in the Toledo area, hosting regular Thursday night dinners and always offering a place to stay. She treasured those family gatherings, and all who gathered around her table will remember them fondly. Above all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Karl Schnipke; her daughters, Denise Stark (Dave) and Krista Schnipke (Brad Hoilien); and her grandchildren, Tyler Fligor, Tiffany Fligor (Montana Yeary), Drew (Kailee) Stark, and Alyssa (Luke) Gazarek. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Pricilla, Indi, Sammi, Montana, and Baby G; her brother, Jim (Bonnie) Fuerst; her sisters, Jane (Henry) Kaufman and Magdeline (Don) Wehri; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Loren Fuerst; and her brother, Dick Fuerst, and his wife, Phyllis.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rashid and the cancer center at UTMC, the caregivers at Kingston of Sylvania, and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care and comfort.
