Natividad Montoya, 77, of Toledo, Ohio, will be remembered fondly by all who knew him after he passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Born on September 8, 1948, in Woodville, Ohio, to Fernando and Victoria (Billegas) Montoya, he was part of a big family, being one of ten children.
Growing up, Natividad attended Spring Elementary, St. Vincent DePaul School, and Woodward High School. He married the love of his life, Maria Mendoza, on June 9, 1977, and together they built a beautiful family, raising five wonderful children.
Natividad was a true hands-on guy with an incredible work ethic. He started off working in the fields with his parents before diving into the world of construction. He was a proud part of the team that built the Renaissance Center in Detroit and later dedicated over 17 years to Erie Tree Service before taking a position with Fresh Products. Beyond work, Natividad had a passion for cars; he loved to tinker and was known for drag racing at Flatrock Speedway. In his later years, he became the go-to mechanic for his family and neighbors, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Natividad is survived by his beloved wife Maria and their five children-Johnny (Tammy), Manuel (Dawn), Tina Negrin, Elizabeth, and Melissa. He will also be missed by his siblings, Mary Snyder, Norma Rodriguez, Estela "The Queen" Montoya, Angelina Montes, Rosendo (Viola) Montoya, Jose Montoya, Juanita (Jim) Metcalf, Eugeno (Anne) Montoya, and Lydia Montoya, as well as his 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Natividad was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Alejandro Montez, grandchildren, Melissa and Dominique Laforge and mother-in-law Nieves Mendoza.
Natividad's Life Celebration will take place on March 24, 2026, from 2 PM to 8 PM at Urbanski Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd, Toledo, Ohio. Friends and family can gather for visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 738 South St. Clair St, Toledo, Ohio 43609, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie, Michigan.
We invite everyone who knew Natividad to come together, share memories, and celebrate a life well-lived.
