Deniece (LaPoint) Kevern age 91 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday May 24, 2026, at Hampton Manor in Lambertville, MI surrounded by family. Deniece was born June 20, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio to Ervin and Florence (Shaw) LaPoint. A 1952 graduate from Central Catholic High School, she went on to graduate in 1955 from Mercy School of Nursing. Deniece met her husband Edward L. Kevern Sr. in 1951 at Central Catholic High School, and they were married in 1956. She worked for several years at St. Charles Hospital before transferring to Mercy Hospital. In later years she worked as a legal secretary and probate paralegal for more than 17 years.
Deniece loved listening to books on tape, dancing, going to garage sales, working on the computer and collecting various items that interested her. She loved animals, especially her two kittens, Lady and Baby.
Deniece was preceded in death by her parents, her son Daniel in 1971 and her husband Edward in 1980. She was lucky enough to rekindle a high school relationship for many of her last years with Eugene "Casey" Superczynski, who preceded her in death in 2022. Surviving are her loving children Edward (Lisa) Kevern, Jr., Kathryn (Rick Willard) Horn, David (Jane) Kevern, Cynthia (Donald) Hood, John (Amy) Kevern, David (Mary) Superczynski, Steven Superczynski, Scott (Tammy) Super and LuAnne (Tom) Ramsdell; grandchildren; James (Amy) Shirey, Nick Shirey, Amanda (Joe) Becerra, Daniel and Christina Horn, Amanda (Ryan) Duffy, Mitchell (Molly) Kevern, Heather (Brandon) Tucker, Nichole Hood, Alexis (Gio) Silvestri, Lance (Rachael) Vogelsong, Heather (Ron) Brazee, Holly Kevern, and Carsen Skibinski; great grandchildren; William, Evan, Joey and Hanna Shirey, Leia and Dallas Shirey, Joe Jr, Manny and Mia Becerra, Luke, Claire, Ethan and Charlotte Duffy, Max, Lucy and Jack Kevern, David, Cecilia, James Tucker, Vivian Silvestri, Leah, Macy, Colt and Easton Vogelsong, and Riley and Brooklyn Brazee.
Deniece's Life Celebration will be Sunday May 31, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 7p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at Christ the King Church at 4100 Harvest Lane Toledo, Ohio, Monday June 1, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Sylvania, Ohio.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Optimal Care Hospice and can be made online at www.optimal.care and selecting foundation from the menu or a charity of the donor's choice.
