Cecelia (Reynoso) Caputo
Cecelia "Cill" Caputo passed away peacefully November 4, 2026. Cill lived her 97 years with endless energy and selfless devotion. Cill was born October 19, 1929, in Tucson, Arizona to the late Luis Reynoso and Mary (Soto) Reynoso. Her family moved to Redwood City, California where she graduated from Sequoia High School in 1947. She met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Caputo, who was stationed at the Naval Air Station, Moffett Field, California. They were married October 4, 1952, and celebrated over 71 years of marriage. Bob brought Cill to his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, but a piece of her heart remained in California. As the lyrics to one of her favorite songs read "I left my heart in San Francisco ... "
Throughout her life as a caring wife, mother, and homemaker, her cooking was beyond compare. No recipes, just a pure gift for all who enjoyed it. Cill was famous for saying, "Are you hungry? Have you eaten? Can I make you something?"
A devout Catholic and deeply religious, she was a lifelong member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Cill volunteered at the elementary school and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.
Our beloved matriarch cherished nothing more than being with family. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren in sports, school programs and plays. The family developed a love of music as Cill and Bob always had all genres of music playing in their home. Whether it was a family reunion, wedding, or any celebration, Cill could be found on the dance floor!
Extending beyond her family, Cill was welcoming of all into her home. She treated everyone equally, listened intently and offered an empathetic "such is life," and always a "be careful" as they were leaving. As her children were growing up, neighborhood kids gravitated to Mrs. Caputo. A very strong and athletic woman, she was wanted on every pickup baseball team and famously went undefeated racing the fastest kids at school.
The blessings of her life influenced many and will live on in her beloved family. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mark (Peggy), Matthew (Karen), Rob (Nancy), Leslie (Randy), Ric (Deb) and Mike (Jennifer); her 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and siblings Lillian Miller, Alice Bettencourt and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Cill was preceded in death by her husband Robert Caputo, brothers Benjamin Reynoso, Paul Reynoso, Sam Reynoso and Joe Reynoso.
"Home is where the heart is
And friendship is a guest
A book, a fire, a hand clasp
A place where souls can rest ... "
