Carole Spicer

July 7, 1936 — September 29, 2024

On September 29th, 2024, the Feast of the Archangels, Carole Spicer peacefully passed away at home after a brief illness, surrounded by family and ready to embrace her heavenly reward.

Carole was born July 7,1936, in Toledo, Ohio, and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.

She was highly regarded in her work as a receptionist for area businesses, including Ernst and Young, and Maria Childcare. Her hobbies included reading, writing poetry, and journaling. She also enjoyed singing in bands and clubs for much of her adult life.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was part of the church choir and funeral committee for many years. Our mom was fiercely devoted to praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary. She always emphasized the importance of family, kindness and forgiveness.

She was the matriarch of our family and enjoyed hosting many family gatherings, especially the annual Christmas dinner. She loved her cat Bootsie, who was a faithful companion to the end.

She was a devoted mother to 3 children, Julie Gutierrez (Roberto), Dawn and Shawn Coupe; stepchildren, Cris Peterson (Ed), Todd, Kevin (Kathy) and Greg Moburg; and a loving grandmother to Grace Scsavnicki (Peter Bjerre), Sofia Gutierrez; and great grandchild, Nikolai Bjerre.

We would like to acknowledge and thank her lifelong friend Carole Aus who always lifted our mom's spirits and was an ongoing source of comfort through the years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Patricia Cappelletty; her siblings, Larry, Harold and Paul Cappelletty; sister, Christine Fitch; and late husband, John "Jack" Spicer.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 5, at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church with Fr.
