Barbara Apsey

Barbara Ann Apsey age 87 of the Polish Village passed away January 5, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born January 26, 1938, in Flint, MI to Daniel and Margaret (Kelly) Gouthro. She married James J. Apsey in 1967 and together they raised their two children, Sarah and Elizabeth. Barbara was a long-time member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and was very proud of her Irish heritage. A kind and humble woman, she loved reading and going to the Toledo Lucas County Public Library often. Barbara worked as a teacher's aide for many years at Jay J. Shuer School, a job she truly loved, and she will be remembered as a servant to others.

Surviving are her loving daughters Sarah Apsey and Elizabeth (Lorenzo) Holguin, both of Toledo. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Alonzo Torres, Maribel Moreno, Asencion Moreno, Igncio Moreno and Gianna Moreno. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband James.

Services were private. Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio is assisting the family.
