Obituaries - In Loving Memory

Leanne M. Ziems
September/15/1966 - December/20/2023

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, Leanne M. Ziems (Hergert) of Temperance, MI who peacefully entered eternal rest at the age of 57 on December 20, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Ebeid Residence, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Leanne left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Leanne was born in Monroe, MI on September 15, 1966, to Eugene and Margaret Hergert. She was a 1984 graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe, MI. She married Scott Ziems, they would be celebrating 26 years of marriage on December 25th, and together they raised two children.
Leanne was a beacon of warmth, compassion, and strength. Her life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Leanne touched the lives of many through her infectious laughter, genuine smile, and the love radiated from her compassionate, giving heart. Leanne was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and she held the esteemed title of Mama Lee when she was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter just over two years ago.
Leanne’s number one job was being the best mom she could for her family. Leanne was a bus driver and assisted in the kitchen at Ida Public Schools in Ida, MI and later worked at the Toledo Costco store. With a joyful and magnetic personality, she loved hosting large gatherings for family and friends, being sure to send everyone home with food when they left. Leanne and Scott cherished their family vacations to western Michigan, especially Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City and Glen Arbor, where they enjoyed kayaking on the Platt River. She loved the outdoors, yoga, shopping, crafts of all kinds, her dogs, and butterflies. Leanne will be deeply missed by her many friends.
In this time of grief, we celebrate Leanne’s life and the immeasurable impact she had on all of us. Her spirit will continue to inspire us to live with purpose, cherish our loved ones, and embrace each day with gratitude.
Surviving is her loving husband Scott, her beloved children Andrew (Emily Cannon) Doom, Sydney (Scyler Glass) Ziems, her cherished granddaughter Violet and her parents Eugene Hergert and Margaret (Clarence) Schwartz. Also surviving are her siblings Tonia Rutkowski, Cindy (Todd) Lentz, Mark Schwartz, Mike (Shea) Schwartz and Matt (Jeannie) Schwartz. She was blessed with several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Her family expresses gratitude to the staff of Hospice NWO, Ebeid Residence for their loving care.
